UWA Toastmasters in action

What we do: We meet weekly to improve our communication skills in a friendly, relaxed environment. In our meetings, everyone participates! Roles rotate each week and include short planned speeches, mini impromptu speeches, constructive evaluation of speakers, and meeting facilitation.

When and where we meet: Our meetings are currently held from 1pm-1:55pm on Friday afternoons in Room 2204 on Level 2 of Social Sciences South at the Crawley Campus of The University of Western Australia. Check this website regularly for updates.

What happens when you start: Visitors are always welcome to be our guest for a few weeks before joining. This way you can observe and participate when you are ready. Once you join, your joining fee entitles you to a selection of training manuals. You will also have opportunities for regular speaking practice at the club, and can attend training seminars and contests if you wish.

How joining Toastmasters can help you: Whether you are an experienced or a beginning speaker, you can benefit from Toastmasters' practical, learn-by-doing program. Everyone at Toastmasters is there for the same reason—to become better communicators. With regular practice, you will be more able to think on your feet and to plan, organise and manage ideas logically. Your self-confidence and assertiveness in any situation will improve in our supportive group environment.
